I just know the taller knobs will give it a more open, airy and detailed sound. You can tell just by looking at it.

i tried changing clock source to spdif and it still doesnt get a signal, and when i hooked up the word clock i couldnt get spdif or wordclock so i think that messes it up more, is there a certain ohm bnc you need? thats the only thing thats bothering me right now? get back to you later

Don't know about Word Clock cables, but S/PDIF requires 75-ohm coaxial cables.
