I would go for the max ram since T&S not replaceable. Or the more serviceable non retina model.

There's a lot of people doing credible work on Mac laptops. Properly spec'd a laptop will outperform the current MacPros hands down. And some of the MacBook Pros can take 32 gig ram which is a killer setup.

If you aren't running VI's or getting PT11 in the near future then your $700 is better spent elsewhere.
(8gig of ram is worth a tenth of that price in any other computer.)
