please, i need advice for av888/1622

i am katerina anachioti from cyprus and i am a musician and a radio music producer

i am planning to buy an audio interface for my musical needs and please i would like to know some things about the digidesign model av888/1622 prior my purchase

date of manufactured av888/1622
what are the main differences between those tow models
what pro tools music software can i use (version)
if i can use other than pro tools music software with those audio interfaces
usb or firewire connection
can be used as standalone device
can be used for monitoring within my daw and my active monitors

my seller at my music local store found for me through ebay a used av888/1622 interface but unfortunately he can answer all these questions so please kindly advice

HI,

Both those interfaces are old and ONLY work with a digidesign mix core card or farm card or connected to the legacy port on a HD interface.

They do not work any other way so you would need a mix core card or HD core card plus interface.

Fundamentally they are no good to anyone unless they already have a pro tools system to connect them to. they do not work as standalone etc.

Depending on how many inputs and outputs you need you would be better looking for an 003 interface maybe? or something new with 8 ins and outs etc.

If you want to use those old boxes, you will need an old computer (if you're using Macs, it means older than 2003) and a MIX card for every 16 channels of i/o you need.

i will take your advice and i will check to find a newer audio interface for my needs

an audio interface with 8 ins 2 outs plus digital in/out and midi in/out are all i need so i have to alk with my local music store seller
