Two New C24's Mic Pre #16 Doesn't Work!!!

Setting up a studio for a client. When I tested the C24, the 16th Mic Pre shows the clip light but no signal. I returned the board and got another new one. SAME THING!! We tested signals also through the DI's as well. We went directly into the D-Sub connection so snakes or patch pays was connected for the test. Has anyone heard of a bad batch of C24's?

How 'bout a bad db25 cable?

That sucks man, My c24 is good but with in the first two months had a few faders die, had to replace the control board.. Better get some faders now while its under warranty

We tested directly into the DB-25 connector no snakes connected.

Thanks for the heads up. This was just bought at GC Pro , so we'll just turn around and get another one. I'm calling Tech Support tomorrow on this. Maybe they know of a bad batch of boards that went out.

You have 30 days for a return at GC and if its defective they cant even say a thing. I would not want a board that needs a tech in its first year

I went through three consoles untill i got a perfect one and still needed some faders later.
Tell the avid guy to bring a brand new console with hime, :)

I have already taken one back to GC Pro with the same problem. My intention is to get Avid to give me a fully tested board. They want to see this one because they have never come across this problem in th C24.

Well, an Avid Field Technician came out to the studio today and fully tested all the lines. He confirmed that #16 Mic Pre was dead. He also could not find if anything caused it. So we ordered another new C24 from GC Pro today. I am going to fully test the new one along with the Avid Tech at the store before it goes out the door. Wish me luck!!!

Well, what a cluster F_ck!!! The new board tested fine. Brought it into the studio, still no signal from Mic Pre 16. So I tested the Mic Pre Out Snake and found that #8 of the snake was bad as well. I replaced the snake and all is good. Cheers
