Default Wavecache over 7GB!!

I was wondering where all my C drive disk space was going... and I found it. An over 7GB wavecache file in the Post Production session templates folder!

I do run very large pro tools projects (dubbing mixer). I guess I can just delete it, and it will repopulate when I open projects... that's likely to be a slow process though, right? My other option would be to create a junction for the Post Production folder and move the real location to a larger (and non-SSD) drive.

But is 7GB just for waveforms normal, even on large projects? Any other tips for managing this?

How big are your sessions, in gigs? I'm a re-recording mixer and have sessions up to 10 or more GB and most sessions my waves cache is 400 mb or so.

They are massive, to be fair. The current series is 1hr long, and has up to about 50 tracks of audio (I guess about 120 tracks in the session all told). I thin out the ones that are definitely redundant when I save to PT9 version for the final mix, but they're still approx 25gb each even after then.

Just delete the wavecache and restart the session. It will re-calculate waveforms which takes some time, but then you know how big it should be.

Key here is that it is in the Templates folder. Delete that WaveCache and when you next open a session that was built from a .pttx template the Wavecache will be written to the one in your session folder rather than the Template folder.
