Unless he actually needs it to connect to an HDX system, which requires a Digilink connector.

Or he wants to be able to expand the main interface with ADAT connectors and 8 channel preamps that cost less than buying a whole second interface.

I've got to be missing something as I was underwhelmed with Slates new I/O when I watched the video.

i'm following this thread - for a pal

the issue he has is recording, say, a drumkit - he doesnt want the headphone latency that HDnative has.

so ideal for him would be: 2018 Mac Book Pro laptop (32 gb ram) plus a thunderbolt chassis, one HDX card, plus a 1U super portable HDX interface with 24 I/O analog minimum.

thoughts?

thanks.

I wonder what he is doing that latency is an issue. I track bands every day with HD/Native and feed 5 stereo headphone mixes from the sessions. Never a comment on latency unless I screwed something up.

Laptop, HDX card in a TB pcie box, - just need a small interface so it all fits in a small carry on.

really appreciate you input.

Probably figured it out by now but all I have seen on tours with portable HDX setups have Omni's. They can be had for as low as $700 on ebay.
