Running a Blackmagic card without genlock I certainly can confirm sync is better and much more stable.

Independent tests have shown it's more or less as accurate as a fully genlocked system. I fully accept it's never going to be as tight as a genlocked system, but given the price difference it's remarkably good, and far better than the AVE.
