Pro Tools 12.4/5 Crashes using Kontakt and East West Play
Since the release of Pro Tools 12.4, any use of East West Play or Kontakt while running a third party library (like Kirk Hunter Diamond in my case) will crash the session upon any use of an offline process to ANY track in the session. Offline Bounce, Commit, and Freeze cause a crash to the session if they are performed to any track while a third party Kontakt library is in use or an East West Play instrument is in use in the session. Can someone at Avid or another user help me confirm and find a solution to this issue?
Thank you much. All the best.

Like I said, anything Kirk Hunter Diamond. I don't have many third party libraries other than that. It seems to be an overall issue with third party libraries streams though if it's affected by Play as well. It also doesn't matter if they're in DFD or Sampler mode.

Man, I really don't know. I'm a film composer. A veteran Avid tech was remotely in my computer for over an hour and at the end, a recommendation to go back to 11.3.2... I run a lot of different Kontakt libraries. Not say that was the issue but I couldn't work and the tech couldn't find any reason for all the crashes and CPU errors. Since going back to 11 I'm working mostly trouble free.

Re: Pro Tools 12.4/5 Crashes using Kontakt and East West Play
I have previously reinstalled 11.3.2 on my machine. I have 11.3.2 and 12.5 in separate folders. The problem is - once an offline render is attempted, the track information becomes corrupt somehow. Reverting back to 11 doesn't allow you to use an offline Bounce. Importing Session Data doesn't fix the problem. In fact, once this is attempted and it fails, changing the instrument doesn't matter either. The track information in the session becomes corrupted and it affects the whole session as long as that track is in the session. This happened with the inclusion of Commit and Freeze. I don't take it as a Kontakt/Play issue, and I've experimented with several changes to the Kontakt app settings.
Respeftfully, I don't feel I have a choice but to keep bumping this until Avid acknowledges it. Thank you for the help.

Re: Pro Tools 12.4/5 Crashes using Kontakt and East West Play
Well, Play for me has always been a lottery - I don't blame Avid 100% for that as its a bit jittery in Cubase/Studio One as well. It is more stable in VEP though which is where I mainly run it nowadays anyway regardless of DAW.
Kontakt however is causing me grief in PT12 (started with 12.0) and I get lots of crashes (straight to desktop) and lock ups with sessions it's instantiated in. Remove (commit) Kontakt and the session is stable again so somethings amiss with it somewhere.

It's difficult to distinguish what it is about third party libraries that's different other than the scripting. Bypassing the scripting doesn't appear to help the problem either.
