Can\'t Hear MIDI !!!!
I'm new to MIDI and I just set up my home studio(G4 450, 001 PTLE) everything works great. The other day I hooked up a KORG N5 to my 001 and I couldn't hear it. I can see the signal is getting to the track in my session, I can record fine, edit the MIDI fine I just can't hear anything while I'm recording or during playback. I figure this somthing stupid I'm overlooking but all my others sessions sound/play fine. It's only the MIDI track. please help!

Re: Can\'t Hear MIDI !!!!
This sounds like it may be a aux fader problem. Have you created a stereo aux fader and assigned the inputs to the same as the inputs on the 001 that you have your keyboard plugged into?
Hope this helps. |

Re: Can\'t Hear MIDI !!!!
yea...
and I find that sometimes when I'm sleeptrackin' the track gets left in "auto-->read" while the volume automation somehow sets itself to zero. ps [This message has been edited by Psycopupil (edited February 12, 2001).] |

Re: Can\'t Hear MIDI !!!!
mfym is correct. This one is simple to fix but frustrating as hell if you don't know - I spent days on it. As far as I know the PT manual says nothing about the fact you need to set up an aux track in PT to hear your MIDI audio simutaneously with the audio. Tried out the demo song from PTLE and hooked up your synth to the Virus MIDI track only to hear no sound but level meters lighting up? No aux track! Connect the audio out of your keyboard to the Digi001 (L & R for stereo), set up a new stereo aux track in PT and assign the input of the tracks from the inputs of the keyboard into the 001 (eg 3/4). Take the 001 out of monitor mode (press grey button on from panel) put the midi track into record mode (because hopefully you have local control switched 'off' on your keyboard) adjust the aux faders for the volume and there you go. Remeber MIDI is not audio - you aren't recoding the sound of the keyboard - only monitoring the output from the output jacks. You want to recording MIDI notes and info. You can of course record the keyboard audio only if you like but it will become waveform data like anything else. Hope this helps.
