Default High School student needs help

Hello,

I am a student in high school and we have a new class that was introduced to us this year called digital audio record technology. In this class, we make music, podcast, radio, commercials, etc. We use 2 daw's (audacity, and Avid Pro Tools). I went searching for an avid pro tools trial and found one so I could start learning how to use this daw as I've never used it before. I downloaded the trial and installed it but then soon found out I need an ilok USB dongle. I don't have an ilok USB dongle nor do I have the money for one, is there a way around this so I can prepare for my class? I think it's absolutely ridiculous to charge $45.95 for a trial. I do understand that this protects software but it's a trial...

Welcome to the community.

You might want to check out Pro Tools First which does not require an iLok (and it's free!).

Thank you so much for sending me this, I truly appreciate it. Will I be able to learn the basics of paid pro tools from this free one?

You can learn the basics with this, yes. I'm not sure about compatibility with the Pro Tools version you may have at your school, though.

Welcome to the community and, most importantly, have fun!
