Default rendering Elastic audio stil slow

I make DJ mixes for CD productions and when I am compiling tracks I use the Rhythmic algorithm. After I am done I convert most tracks to X-form.
X-form only uses one processor (of the 8 I have) which makes it very slow.
If it would use all 8 or maybe just 6 to give the rest of PT and the OS some room it would be a huge time saver!

I bought a 12 Core Mac Pro and Protools 9 uses only a fraction of the CPU power of what the computer is capable of. And Yes X-Form rendering is incredibly slow on that machine as well.

Yeah, it seems X-Form is like watching paint dry

you can see it in Activity Monitor. It only uses 1 core.
so a 6core 3.33 would be faster in this case.

However I am on 8 cores I can use all cores.
What is wrong in your system that it doesn't use all 12?

This is one of those things I complained about back in the 7.4 days. I understand the fact that it might be nice in some scenarios to have it only use part of your processors so that you can keep working while it renders in the background. But in most cases for me, I can't continue to work until all tracks are rendered. Rendering 12 tracks of drums takes FOREVER! Because of this, I just don't use X-Form. The worst is when you render in that algorithm and it isn't even better than what you had... or in some cases, even worse.

There needs to be some clean up in this area by Avid. I also get really annoyed that if I start a off-line render and then decide I don't want it, that Pro Tools continues to render it in Task Manager even though it won't be used. Then later when you reopen the session, it often tells you that you are missing those rendered files that you never needed to use anyways.

I would love to see an option when you choose off-line rendering to say use all CPU resources for rendering in where you may be locked out of doing anything in your project, but the rendering happens much much faster. That would be more helpful for me.

Oh I'm so glad to hear others are experiencing this and bothered by it. It renders XForm useless to me.

Avid? Any update to XForm coming any time soon? With multicore functionality?
