In the setup, peripherals, midi controllers, set the type as m-audio keyboard.
This enables you to set the nanokontrol as receive from and send to.

Set ch to 8.

Set to receive from: predefined -> nanokontrol, Slider/knob.
Set to send to: predefined -> nanokontrol, Ctrl.

Then open the korg nanokontrol editor.

Set the left most over the korg image setting to 16.

Set the following CCs to the following buttons:
Rew: 114
Play: 117
FF: 115
Loop button: 57 (i will explain this further down)
Stop: 116
Rec: 118

Fader 1-8: 33 - 40
Fader 9 (this will control the master fader directly ,if present): 41
Pan knobs 1-8: 17 - 24
[Reverse the left and right values for each knob. Set right to: 0
Set left to: 127]
(Only problem i had is that these only give you the options of left, right or center. I can't get them to work in intermediate values.)

Set the lower button next to each fader 1-8: 49 - 56 (has to do with the loop button, i will explain)
Set the lower button next to fader 9 (master fader): 15 (bank right)
Set the upper button next to fader 9 (master fader): 14 (bank left)

The loop button cycles through the functions solo track, select track, record enable track, mute track. These are then available through the lower button next to each track.

I have the korg settings file and an image i made with the instructions for each button.

I just got all three members of the Nano family, for my laptop LE rig. Just wanted to say, you are the man! It works wonders right out of the hole. Thanks so much!

My mini korg works perfectly in Logic and it's an easy set up. Why oooo why in PT this has to be so difficult and does anyone knows the way around it with out any programing?

I have just seen that Korg offers a surface plug-in for Logic and Garage Band. However, there seems to be no official driver or similar for Protools

I have seen all your posts. Did Korg finally reply to one of you guys?

I've read reports on the soon to be released Nanokontrol 2, it says that it will HUI compatible...

Until then the instructions in this thread are the closest I've found...

I have a microKontrol which has rotary encoder (dial) above all the faders (which are now working as a PT control thanks to you all) and i'd like to use them for panning but when I cc for 17 it only goes left, any suggestions on how to make the dial functional as a panning control?

Hmm, there is a glitch using the nano's dial for panning, it usually will only let you pan far right or far left. It' something about the Axiom using endless rotary dials and the nano's don't. But I'm not sure why yours is only letting you go left, maybe something in your nanokontrol's programming is not quite right.

I'm hoping the panning issue is resolved with the nanokontrol 2....

Wanted to echo Jamie McB's question :

** Has anyone worked out any cc-s for SENDS ?

Apart from that - big thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread.

Hi, thanks for all the great information. Unfortunately, I am having trouble with this in Pro Tools 9. I followed the instructions perfectly.

Anyone here also having trouble with this on Pro Tools 9?

Would be great if we could get a fix on this!
