The padKontrol is a controller only; what are you using as a sound module? That's information that we need to know to give you proper and accurate instructions.

right well my problem is im not sure how to assign a sound bank to it from protools, or what to use as a sound module, or how to get the sound from the pad to come out of the speakers which are hooked up to the m-box mini

Right... OK... Well...

Well first you need to choose a sound module. Just the controller and Pro Tools alone aren't going to produce any sound at all. It can be a software sound module or a hardware sound module, but you will still need to choose one to use. Most people these days are opting for Virtual Instrument plugins.

I have a website for Pro Tools newbies ( www.ptnewbie.com ) and on it I have a List of free plugins that you can download, install and use. I've also got basic tutorials for how to use softsynths that might help you out.
