Eucon making Pro Tools crash

I´ve been having random Pro tools crashes in the last few months. It starts when I close a session or pro tools. Then starts to crash during some eq automation in preview mode. But it has happen in some others situation too.
So I did a clean reinstall of MAC OS and PT, but still get the crash.
So I uninstall Eucon few days ago and so far I had no crashes. So I came to the conclusion that Eucon is the on to blame.

Does anybody have something like that?


This is my set up:
DIGI 003 rack
Macpro octore 2.3 ghz, 24 gig ram + 4 HDs (1 tera)
MAC OS 10.6.8
Eucon 3.0.1
Avid Artist Mix controller
Pro tools 10.3.7 complete toolkit

Hi there, greetings from the UK.

I've been having similar problems on PT HD 10.3.7 and Mac OS 10.6.8 too - random crashes, getting increasingly more frequent, but I'm still using Eucontrol 2.7.1 as I understood that version 3.x was mainly about adding OS 10.8 support. I've tried pretty much everything, (prefs, databases, reinstalling PT, checking all plugins are latest versions etc) and each time I think I've sorted it, but very soon the crashes return, most often at launch or shutdown. Reinstalling the Mac OS is likely to be my next step, but before I do that I'd be interested to hear if you've had any more crashes since trashing Eucon?

Hey Martin, thanks for sharing it !
I did try with all Eucon version from 2.6 to 3.1. All of them got PT to crash.

So far I have done the following procedures to try to stop the crashes but
with no success:

- clean Mac OS and Pro Tools reinstall
- Taking out all non-avid plugins.
- Extensive (over night) memory ram test with Apple hardware DVD and also
with memtest 86. No problem found.
- repair permission on Mac OS
- Disk repair on all my HDs
- Trash all Pro Tools and Eucon prefs

Like you, after trashing prefs on PT and Eucon, things seen to get stable, but after while it starts crashing again.

I did open a Avid support case. They did try to help me, but so far nothing really worked. The last suggestion they gave me was to:

1. Clean uninstall again(PT & EuCon).
2. Go to Mac HD>System>Library>Extensions>Trash DigiDal.kext
3. Reinstall PT and restart/launch Pro Tools.

I did not do that one yet cause I am finishing a big project. I will try it next week. If that also does not work, I think I will try to get a new hard drive, install Mavericks or 10.8 and see how it goes. My guess right now is that something to do with Eucon and Mac 10.6.8. Lots of guess!

Did you open a support case on that?

Hi everyone,
I still get those PT crashes even after clean install of Mountain Lion on new hard drive.
I did noticed in my crashes logs that right at the time PT crashes, there was also a MIDI Server crash. This MIDI crash is cause by EuphonixMIDI.
Does anybody has any expirence of crashes caused by EuphonixMIDI?
I attached both PT and MIDI server reports in case anyone wants to take a look.

I did noticed in my crashes logs that right at the time PT crashes, there was also a MIDI Server crash. This MIDI crash is cause by EuphonixMIDI.
Does anybody has any expirence of crashes caused by EuphonixMIDI?
I attached both PT and MIDI server reports in case anyone wants to take a look.
