Midi Notes Won't Play During Pre-Roll

Today's episode of "WTF, Pro Tools?!"

Got up early to continue on a complicated midi piano track I've been working on all week. When I saved and walked away from the file yesterday evening, all was well. Picking it up again this morning, my midi notes won't play during pre-roll. Yesterday they did. Today they won't. Nothing has changed in the program settings.

The symptoms:

Using F7 selection cursor, click on measure 170 in the timeline, setting both selection arrows at 170. Pre-roll is 4 measures. Hit play, midi notes in pre-roll section play as they should.

Using F7 selection cursor, click on measure 170 and drag to 171 selecting the measure. Selection arrows are now at 170 & 171. Pre-roll is 4 measures. Hit play, and the first midi note in the 4 pre-roll measures plays, but none of the rest. Midi notes in the selected measure between 170 & 171 play as they should when the playhead gets there.

Any ideas on this one?
