Default HD driver 12.6.1 fixes major annoyance

Ever since I upgraded my Mac Pro to El Capitan, I had not been able to shut down or restart cleanly.
My Mac would get to a blank desktop and just hang. I tried all kinds of experiments, tried to figure out what processes were still running, stripped my system down, etc. I would have to pull the plug every night.

Last week I upgraded to HD driver 12.6.1, and now my system shuts down cleanly every time, for the first time in a year. Who knew?

Yes, running PT HD 12.6.1 as well, but this is independent of whether I have run PT since booting.

You upgraded to Yosemite, while Pro Tools had a Driver that wasn't comaptible.
Installing 12.6.1 driver removed the core audio function which kept you from shutting down. (Core Audio didn't function right with Yosemite)

Installing Sierra, with PT 12.6.1 and the latest HD Driver will no longer have the shutdown issue, as it installs a working Core Audio Driver.

Does the new 12.6.1 core audio drive allow access to more than 8 inputs? I've got an Omni HD and two Analog HD 16x16.

Actually the problem showed up originally when I upgraded from Yosemite to El Capitan.
