ilok?

I just upgraded from a previous version of protocols to version 10.2. Do I have to purchase an ilok to run protocols ten? I got a message saying it was missing when I tried to open protools10

Yes, Pro Tools 10 requires an ilok / ilok authorization.

Where did you buy the upgrade from?

The Avid webstore lists the iLok in System Requirements on the PT10 Upgrade/Crossgrade page.

When you purchase Pro Tools software, the ilok license of course is included. It gets deposited into your ilok.com account for you to download to your ilok.

The actual physical ilok, does not come with the purchase of the software.

The access code was sent to me today in an email from Avid. I didn't know I needed an ilok until I installed over. 10.2

you have always required an actual ilok, depending on how you purchased your software, it either was provided, or it wasnt..

if it wasnt, just pick one up for 50 bucks.. problem solved..


when you say you upgraded/ crossgraded to pro tools 10.2, what pro tools were you running previously?
did you not have an ilok with that system? any ilok will work.. ilok 2 just holds more licences. but the orig. will still work..

U know DTS I think it would be cool to include a getting started video of all the account stuff the new users have to register post purchase - like those videos the y'all used to send out about getting started to record with that Eric guy

You ought to include a video that goes over what they need to do after they get home with the software
