Bringing up the same automation parameter for multiple tracks
I am currently doing some mixing work, within the box and without a control surface
All my tracks have the same set of inset plugins, at the same position. For the shake of being concise, Trim is the first insert on all my tracks. Is there a way of bringing up the Gain "automation lane" on multiple tracks? To put it in different words: if Ctrl+Command bring up the Gain automation lane, of Trim on an individual track, is there a way of:

Re: Bringing up the same automation parameter for multiple tracks
opt-select automation parameter changes all tracks to that parameter.
shift-opt-select, only the tracks you have selected. As a principle, when you want to do something remind yourself of function of the modifier keys.

Re: Bringing up the same automation parameter for multiple tracks
Hey minister
Thanks for the reply back. I did try several modifier combos before I posted the thread. opt-select automation parameter changes all tracks to that parameter. Unless I am doing something severely wrong, this doesn't and it shouldn't do the trick. This zeros the automation value to its default position. Same goes for the shift-opt-select, only the tracks you have selected. If Cmd+Ctr brings up the automation lane of a specific plugin parameters, you'd suspect the Cmd+Ctr+Alt would bring it for all of the tracks. But I'm afraid this brings up the automation enable/ or disable parameter of the plugin. In the same fashion you'd expect that Cmd+Ctr+Alt+Shift would bring the plugin parameter on the selected tracks. But this brings the automation value to its default. |

Re: Bringing up the same automation parameter for multiple tracks
I just put EQ 3 on 5 channels. I hit option, I went to the automation parameter drop down menu (in the Edit window) and selected "Master Bypass". All plugins switched to Master Bypass.
I selected 3 tracks. Hit shift-option and selected "Master Bypass" again and only 3 of the plugins switched to waveform view.

Re: Bringing up the same automation parameter for multiple tracks
I strongly believe, that minister is saying : alt or alt+shift to be used not in the plugin-window, but in the track view - selection (where you can change from wave to volume and whatever).
Another way : all tracks with the gain plugin have a prepared additional automation lane with the selection of trim (takes a minute, but only has to be done once (or once in a lifetime for a personal session template)). By selecting all desired tracks to have the trim automation lane displayed and alt+shift-clicking the arrow for additional automation lanes displays them at once (and again alt+shift-clicking hides them again). Ok, clutters the edit window a bit.

Re: Bringing up the same automation parameter for multiple tracks
Chaps, I was so transfixed with doing this via the plugin window that going in the edit window didn't even cross my mind!
[bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep].... that was a proper brain-freeze moment. And the idea to use the the additional lane is not bad at all actually. I rarely used the lanes - because of the clutter - but for it ain't a bad idea for quick global reference. Thanks minister and joachim |

Re: Bringing up the same automation parameter for multiple tracks
Keep in mind, that this short-cut has to be implemented by the programmer. A lot of plug-ins do not support this short-cut - very annoying!
