Hey Big

There's another manufacturer out there as well, though I don't remember the name...it was in a mix or EM mag about five months ago in an article on voiceover. At any rate, I think they're a great idea in theory, as long as you make sure that your place will accomodate the heighth and width of the unit. I'm giong to either purchase one or build one for my studio and I know it's going to cramp the room up badly. Oh well...

Does anyone know of an online resource guide for how to make your own? I'm not talking about those 3 sided things that are more like Japanese changing rooms (similar in theory to the Auralex maxwall). I'm talking about a full-fledged booth with 4 walls & a ceiling & a hinged door.

Hey Nick now ur talkin! My initial idea was to build it myself (portable booth). But i dont know where to start. Im afraid to build a crappy booth. I would even pay someone to build it. Preferably someone who has experience with that kind of stuff.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">www.soundproofing.org.

They are NOT a non-profit (despite the .org) but they are nice guys who have terrible looking, yet very informative website. They'll help you out on the phone as well and have good prices. Also, Auralex has some section of their site called 'acoustics 101' (or something like that) that is pretty good.

Just so you know, I think you'll find in the end that if you want it to be of pro quality, you'll be better of buying it from the pros. If not, I know people who have used only very cheap materials from home depot with impressive, if not perfect results.

I'd enjoy any photos people may have of homemade booths.

My father-in-law works in construction and came across an oversized rack server case (6.5'H x 3.5'W x 3'D) that was going to be trashed. He brought it over and it works great as a small vocal booth. I got my foam from www.foambymail.com. They were the most reasonable source I could find. And, for about $125 I have a great little vocal booth in my one-room studio. I'll try and get a picture for you to check out.
