neither if I can help it

5.1 on 9 is probably a tad more stable than 6.4.1 on 10.3.something but not by much

Thanx. I have been on OS 7-9 since 1995. Wonder if 6.4.1 have benefits I should miss?

OSX 10.5/10.6 and PT 7/8 are better

I´m sure you are using it with the MiX hardware?

The one thing that stands out to me is the fact that in 6.4.1 Amp Farm only uses 1/2 a DSP chip. where in 5.1.3 it will use a whole DSP chip.
I'm sure there are other examples of this type.

You can always get a MDD G4 (FW400) and make it dual boot and have both.

Thanx. I do have a dual boot G4 2x1.25gHz FW400, with OS 9.2.2 & 10.3.9 installed & 5 MiX cards in Magma chassis.
Newer bothered to install 6.4.1 that I do have had for years. Now I wonder if mixing could be easier, things like Beatdetective better & overall work flow easier?
Laziness?

Not a huge advantage to 6.4. OSX is nice if you have multiple computers, as it's a lot easier to set up remote desktop/screen sharing type apps with newer computers.

OS9/PT 5.1 are better in that you can still use samplecell and lexiverb. If you use those then you're better off in OS9.

Even before PT9, what really killed mix for me was that OS 10.3.9 doesn't support a lot of newer video codecs, so I would have to convert video files to older formats just so I could work on them. If you're just doing music, and already have all the hardware though, the mix systems are still very usable.

Well, it works like a charm in a network with 7 other OSX & XP computers. (Apple Share).

I´m syncing & using other OSX machines thru ADAT LightPipe, going in & out or inserting VI, effects & other plug-ins.

All this takes MIDI Machine Control & my decks nicely care of.
The system works really like a charm. So you mean that PT|6.4.1 does not brings anything I would really miss from PT|5.1.3? Surround mixing etc..
..Thank you all for the insightful comments.
