Newbie interested in buying and Eleven rack. Are they reliable?

First thing I did was go through all the presets and set them up so the output was consistent from one to the next. I bought early on, and Avid sent me the correctly grounded output jack within a few days. Everything else has worked fine since then. It came with PT8 LE at the time, and there were a few updates to the version one firmware shortly after. I have yet to upgrade to the version two firmware.

I am big on clean tones, too. Most of the ratty sounding distorted ones I like less than going straight into a tube amp. I had picked out about a dozen presets for basic sounds and did a dance gig using it as a front end into a Mesa SwitchTrack 395 amp. It's a stereo amp with two 12ax7 and four 6L6s per side: 95 watts per side. I had it loaded with Phillips 6L6WGB and Tungsram ECC83 NOS tubes. The amp was driving a pair of Bag End 2x10s with EV speakers. So the 11R provided the basic translation from the pickups (a Strat Ultra with stock Lace) and the Tungsram and Phillips glass provided the drive and compression.

I have had mine for about 5 years and it seems to be bullet proof. It has been dropped once and even left out in the rain for about 10 minutes by a friend of mine who was supposed to have put it in his car. (it is in a nice case but just say'n!) I have used it live and in my studio and hauled it all over the place. Not one single glitch!

I'm going to pile on and say I've really enjoyed mine. I got it about 2 years ago. Now, 11R + ERXP + PT10&11 ... nice deal for $699 at a bunch of US retailers (need to plug Sweetwater here). The only problem I've had so far is a bum USB cable that came with it. I've found added "life" running the 11R through my regular amp (going in through the effects return) - but no issues with the sound running 11R direct into PT. As a guitarist, something will always be missing if you run electric gtrs through monitors or headphones (or computer speakers listening to soundclips) instead of an amp. Plus it's orange. That's cool.

No doubt the $699 deal is outrageous! PT11 alone costs about that much.

If you shop around a bit more you can find it for even LESS, right now its only $618 at B&H!!! Insanity! At that price you almost can't afford to NOT get one

You guys are putting my worries at ease now lol. Yeah that's where I was thinking about getting it, was from B&H because of that insane price for what you're getting(I also want to start recording). I just recently started to play guitar again and bought a couple new guitars and a small Blackstar practice amp. How does the 11R sound through a tube amp? Or should I go with a solid state?
