Default Audio Interface

Hello Folks,

I am about to sell my Mackie Onyx 1640i and buy a new audio interface ...

What interface would provide me with the best sound coming out of my monitors ? (Firewire, USB, Thunderbolt)

I don't care much about the PREs sound since I don't record much ... I am mainly into Virtual Instruments and only care about the sound coming out of my monitors ...

Kindly advise

Best

Do you have a budget?? This will dictate most all suggestions.

Not Much I/O .....

2 pair of studio monitors,

a microphone, and (2 stereo outs from my eleven rack and one mono out)

So basically 4 Inputs and 4 Outputs

Budget is not an issue ...

Hey

If you are interested in UA I would go with the Apollo Twin

http://www.uaudio.com/interfaces/apollo-twin.html

And save the money for more great UA plugins instead as these new desktop interfaces has the same sound quality and the Apollo Quad and Apollo Duo but more than half price. Awesome preamps should you need them later on and the quality is A+ compared to other interfaces in this price bracket

And it's Thinderbolt too

Best Regards
Chris

I can't hook up Eleven with the Apollo Twin since it has barely 2 inputs and one output .. read please the I/O i mentioned in a previous post ... I would certainly need more ... but is the apollo duo better than an apogee quartet or ensemble ?

At some point best crosses over to personal choice
Pesonly I've thought that Apogee's power supplies were a little on the week side (when the lights dim on the unit from taking a high level signal) but I have not looked at the newer units.
The UA units open you up to some nice plug-ins, you may find yourself wanting more of there DSP power if you like them
