He mentioned he's not on a current plan so would have to fork out $300 to reinstate.

Mmmm, you may be right Darryl

Pro Tools 12.5.2 native works with High Sierra 10.13.2 on iMac 27" (2012) 3.4GHz i7.
I'm using it now and have not had any issues yet, although I recently installed it.
Just thought I would share my findings for those wanting to upgrade.

Any experience with ProTools 12.5.0 on High Sierra?
MacBookPro 2014
MacBookPro11,2
Intel Core i7 2GHz
iLok

Till now I am on Mavericks but want to update after many PA plugins are not stable. Also I want to have AirDrop as it would make my life easier.
I don't have any UpdatePlan from Avid - and I don't want to buy one as I am not happy with them (but this should be not a topic in here).

I keep checking PT compatibility chart, but it doesn't say PT 12.5 is compatible with Sierra, are you sure?

I see you are on Elcap which is the absolute worst OS ever so I would either go to Sierra or High Sierra asap.
Hey, nice to read. Still no issues? You're on 12.5?

Default Re: Will my PT 12.5 work with High Sierra?

I have just registered to come and give a warning here. I have bought a Mac Pro in 2014 with El Capitan to run Pro Tools 12.5.0 with a perpetual license. Like the OP, my upgrade plan has expired and I'm stuck on this version (not even 12.5.1 is allowed, which is not fair considering they are mostly bug updates).

My advice is STICK TO EL CAPITAN.

High Sierra, which I am running right now is nothing but headaches for Pro Tools 12.5.0. The Import Audio function has all but locked up, the delay compensation regularly crashes and I've had the Playback Engine selection menu has broken down completely, forcing you to dump pref files every time you change audio interface (which could be a lot, depending on your process).

At the moment, I am forced into hacking my own machine into reverting back to El Capitan. I have lost at least 6 sessions to crashes WITH CLIENTS SITTING IN THE ROOM. My ultimate fix for these problems each time was to temporarily switch back to a windows workstation until I had time to diagnose and make it work again.

Seriously! Install El Capitan, don't login with your apple ID (so you're sure the App Store doesn't pull one on you) and run Pro Tools 12.5.0 in the officially supported setup.

PT 12.5 with HD Native PCIe Card and Sierra?

People here say that 12.5.x works with Sierra but I tried this once last year on macOS 10.12.3 with a Native PCIe card and I was experiencing a weird audio latency while recording. Immediately after, I installed PT 12.7.1 (and its associated new HD Driver) and then the unexpected latency went away.

Is anyone having success with PT12.5.x with a Native PCIe card (+its associated HD Driver) running atop any version of Sierra?
