Default "unable to allocate disk space for recording" error

i'm using an mbox with a brand new 800mhz imac and i have a new Lacie 80gig firedrive connected. i can allocate a track to the Lacie but when i start recording i get the space error above. the drive is brand new and has nothing in it. it also has the required 7200 rpms as well as the 911 chip recommended by digidesign. i did attempt to initialize it different ways. i have tried partitioning it. the drive is being recognized by the desktop (and indeed shows up as an option on which to allocate tracks). i have also tried increasing memory for the program. i have called both digidesign and apple and both people unfortunately did not have a solution for me. any help would be greately appreciated.

Default Re: "unable to allocate disk space for recording" error

-Hello. You might've already done this: restrict the recording time for the session. Try 10-15 min. This has solved this kind of problem in the past for me. No guarantees though! I'm away from the machine that has PTs on it so I can't tell you exactly where it is (it's something like 'open ended disk allocation'). Hope this helps...
