JBL LSR 6328P or Genelecs 8020 for small mix room
Will be setting up a new surround mix/writing room. I don't have much space, 10' (W) x 24' (L) x 10' (H).
I have the choice of either JBL LSR 6328P + sub or Genelecs 8020 + sub, any suggestions ? As much as i love the JBL, i'm afraid it's overkill for such a small room...mix position is roughly 3 feet from the monitors. Thanks |

Have you looked at PSI 17’s?
Way flatter than the others and the phase accuracy of these is off the scale (it really makes a difference when eq-ing dials and atmospheres. I measured them with a Trinnov whilst doing a magazine review) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I want to only use the models mentioned as most studios i freelance at have them and i can easily get them locally.

Also curious about you having easy access to buying them in Montreal, since they're out of production and I had to search high and low to find three last year. Did somebody up there buy all the remaining stock?

I'm partial to the LSR set. I find my mixes translating very well to the stage with them.

The 6328's are very different from the 8020s.. double the size really. 3 feet might be a bit close. They are in between near-field and mid, I mix on them 6-7 feet away and love them. Have you considered the smaller JBLs? The 4328s come to mind.. also pretty common.

Yes, all the distances are equal.

Re: JBL LSR 6328P or Genelecs 8020 for small mix room
I suggest you to use JBL 708p monitors. They are a bit smaller than the 6328 and sound much better. I am selling three new 708p in the buy&sell forum for a good price if you are interested.
