Default ASIO problem.. i think..

anybody have trouble getting their 002r to be recognized as a windows audio device? my problem is i cant get windows system sounds to play through it. when i assign the 002r as the default playback device (yes its listed there) nothing happens. and when i go back to the main control panel audio window it says "no audio device" listed for default. this is strange because WMP and PT talk to the 002r just fine. this normally wouldnt be an issue but there are other programs like MOTU symphonic instrument that dont recognize the 002r as an audio device. so i cant use standalone apps. i can only use them through PT. not a huge problem considering but is there something, perhaps the ASIO driver, at fault or is there something ive overlooked?

Well NOT ASIO, Digi ASIO maybe.
I have the same problem with 003 and XP SP3 - Doesn't show up in the sound window in control panel. I don't use windows sound so that wasn't a problem but for some reason Band in a Box realdrums wants to use that driver even though I set up the Digi one. It would play one drum beat and remain silent for ever after. So I just reinstalled my Echo Audiofire to cater for those things.

im using xp sp3.

hmmm. well.. i dont care much about using my windows system sounds. but i would like to get standalone apps to recognize the 002r as my audio device. i cant get my head around this. i have an mbox2pro that wont work *with PT at all with this machine but all my other apps recognized it fine. i switched to 002r to get PT to wrk and now i have trouble getting standalones and windows to recognize it. what a headache this nonesense is. all my hardware is more or less digi approved.
