Default PT 12 destructive punch mono files

Does anyone know if there's a way to make destructive punch write mono files? There was a few times in the past where I noticed it was automatically making monos of my stereo tracks.. would be nice if it did this all the time, especially for my 5.1 stems.

Two ways:

-turn off interleaved in session setup (before you prep DP tracks!).

-make mono DP re-record tracks.
