PT12(HD) License Permanent?

Okay I am almost certain that this questions has been answered already, but still - once and for all - if you purchase the 1yr support plan for either the vanilla (199$) or HD ProTools (599$) you will get the PT12(HD) license once the product will be released. My question is: is this license permanent or not (i.e. it's a rental 1yr license which will expire after 1yr)?

As has been answered MANY times - the support plan license is a permanent license; it's just that after the one year if you don't renew you don't get access to feature release updates but you do get bug fix updates for that version only.

This is constantly throwing me off track "On January 22, 2015, Avid announced that Pro Tools will be offered through a perpetual license or a monthly or annual subscription.". Well in truth this + many other vague official answers + all the mixed and sometimes very confusing posts here on this forum ... after reading all (or most) of the posts I am sometimes even confused about my own name.

Whay confuses a lot of people is that Avid is running two completely different licensing systems. One is the subscription ecosystem and the other is the support plan ecosystem. And some people are getting the two confused.

Yes, it is. But if he doesn't renew his support plan and upgrade, at this time next year his name will be 'SOL'.

One more point to clarify... If you have the one year support plan, you do not necessarily get PT12.

You get PT12 only if it is released while your support plan is active. If your support plan lapses before the release and you fail to renew, you do not get the upgrade.

Recent HD11 Upgraders already have Pro Tools 12 on their iLok.
So I guess it’s “coming soon”.

Clearly AVID is looking at how MS does things and are tweaking it to their liking, most likely Office.
