I do it at least once a week, so I don't really know what problems might happen.

This is not an optimization for Pro Tools but a troubleshooting tool. Whether you need to do it or not depends on the problem you're having.

You don't need to be having a problem for this to help.
It's a good idea to trash databases and preferences whenever a new or updated plug-in is loaded, and it's not a bad idea to do it on a regular basis just because, as it tends to keep things fresh (for lack of a better term).

You shouldn't need to do it unless your having issues. I like to do it after upgrades and updates.

Yes, but I'm saying that doing it on a reguular basis keeps issues at bay.
Kind of like an apple a day, or in the case of an old wanker like me, an aspirin a day.

+1. I only do it when PTools feels a bit wonky. It always takes me a few steps to reset all the prefs/views back how I like it.

well everything seems to run ok without doing it.But sometimes ill get a notice that i'm running out of CPU and i should take off some native plugins or increase the cpu samples .When this happens i'm only around 30% in the usage meter. Then i start using it again without changing anything an it keeps working.Sometimes ill get that stuck note sound too.

Deleting databases & prefs won't really help with your first problem. As to stuck notes - what vi are you having the problem with? Some NI plugs have that issue at times - Absynth used to be a great one for that.
