Default Soundminer on XP?

Anyone using Soundminer on XP? Working as well as it does on Mac?

Yes, I'm using it. It work pretty well. I'm happy. One thing is it seems to be picky about the files. Transfering files will somwtimes crash the program. For the most part, I'm very happy. If you have any other questions, please email me.

It's working OK for me, with a few minor beefs.

Editing the BWDescription field for a file is rather awkward, and makes the entire machine become "stupid" while it saves the file. I've also had the program spontaneously exit a few times, in a less than graceful manner.

Keep in mind that Rewire is not supported, so you'll have to make other arrangements for previewing sounds. Seems kind of odd, especially since the Rewire logo is prominently placed in the top right corner. I've run a line from the workstations built-in sound card to some spare Genelecs I had kicking around, which is functional if not optimal.

All in all, it's light years ahead of the Gefen jukebox system I'd been fighting for years! Count me as a happy customer.

Have they implemented a "spot to track" function with PT yet? Last time I checked Basehead out, that function only worked with Nuendo/Cubase, which (for me anyhow) eliminated it from further consideration.

I looked @ the Basehead site and wasn't clear on how one gets sounds into their database. Is there an app like "Ripper"? Can it look at other databases, like iTunes?

Not yet, but you can drag and drop onto the track, so, it's not that big of a deal.
