restored audio file won't play please help

I recovered a crashed hard drive and restored a project from it. It had lost it's directory to the point that DiskWarrior couldn't help it, but VirtualLab seemed to work fine. (https://www.binarybiz.com/)

Most of the session restored fine and plays, but among the 1,200 files, 124 of them won't relink. Those files also will not play in the finder. They have the correct icon, they take an appropriate amount of disk space, and the finder identifies them as aiffs, but preview can't play them. When I try to open them in QT pro, it says the "end of file was reached (-39)".

I have tried copying the files to another drive to no avail.
I have tried dragging them into PT, but that doesn't work either.

Any thoughts? I need to restore this session.

Have you tried importing into a new session? Could be a corrupt session.

The first thing I'd do is check if they would play on a PC. Try opening them in Wave Lab or Sound Forge and see what happens. Chances are that the files have been corrupted, but you might be able to rescue them (kids, don't try this on a Mac )

a pc, huh? i don't have one. nothing on the mack that could repair confused files? I think it must be some kind of resource fork hiccup. If someone out there has a PC and I could send them the files to fix, I would happily pay for the help.
