Default TDM Users What Are Your Plans With New License Plan

This question is for TDM users only, I'm curious what all of you guys are planning to do in regards to your current TDM systems as it relates to the new Avid licensing program?

For me personally, my plan is to upgrade an old HD7 license I have for 600 bucks. And I guess I'll have to continue to do the 599 a year just remain current. Obviously I need to retain my ProTools HD 10 license to continue using my TDM rig.

If I retain the other license, if I do or to go to HTN or HDX later on I'd be safe it was a reversion ProTools was on at that point

I personally can't see me needing anything different than what I have right now for at least the next five years or even longer.

What, nobody cares? I keep telling myself, your system does everything you need or want it to.

I hate that my options suck!

I am surprised there has not been more discussion on this thread. Are most of you going to stay put and never upgrade, pay the 599 and hope you can stay TDM, upgrade because you want/have to because of the change, or "why are you asking, I'm busy working and could care less"?

I have a PT8 HD system and a PT10 HD system in live use and I don't quite know what to do with those licenses yet, so I sit tight and wait :)

First of all that older one cannot even run PT10 as it is a PPC system, so I'm just going to keep it running as long as I can and then think about it again. If Im out of luck at that time, so be it.

The newer one, well... Its key holds a PT9/PT10 license bundle now. While it could just as well be a PT10/PT11 license bundle, paying 599 for the sake of changing licenses just does not feel very good to me.

I'm also voluntarily maintaining a PT8/PT9 system for a non-profit organization, but haven't decided what to recommend them. So far it seems they're good with what they have. They also have my very old MIX system in daily use, but it's been out of scope for years already.

I have an HD5 TDM rig. Thousands of sessions and hundreds of bands on it the last 12 years. I bit the bullet, paid the upgrade and grabbed a native system on ebay for like 1100. I wanted to do a shootout of my own.

The bummer was losing my PT9 license. PT10 DOES NOT open PT9 sessions exactly. Bc of some plugin issues, I can't really let PT 10 and 11 coexist as easily as they say.

In very limited tests, Native has been iffy and astounding all at once. For mixing, PT11 is well worth it for a number of reasons. Its saved me about 6-7 hrs this week already in terms of bounce time. Plugins are streamlined. Native plugs are using 20-40% less system resources during playback.

But at least 3 times in 6 sessions this week with some test clients... takes have been stopped with 9xxxx errors. That NEVER happened on HD. Ever. So thats a HUGE issue right now.

So my plan is/was to buy the license, get 11 stable for mixing, 10 stable for tracking, even if that means going back to 10 TDM for tracking and 11 for main mixes. Annoying, but.... not sold that getting an HDX card would help the errors.

I bought an ilok off ebay with 10HD on it, for $500. I plan to run 10HD for 3 or 4 years and then see where the industry is.

I'm on the fence myself about biting the bullet for the $1400 upgrade to PT 10 from 8 but I don't think I am going to do it.
Already have a PT HD 11 license and not sure if I'm going to even pay for the fee for that one.
