Is a PTHD2 PCIX w/ G5+control24 still good for commercial studios?
i saw some studios currently having this type of system.
G5 dual 2.5ghz 8gb ram Pro Tools HD2 Control 24 mixer (1st one) Digital 192 Adat Bridge 24 ( for a total of about $6k) now with so much talk about HDX , the above systems seem to go for relative little money and if they made gold records 6-8 years ago seems they should be more than enough for a current 2011 commercial music studio. (of course + good mics+room+speakers+musicians) right? |

Re: Is a PTHD2 PCIX w/ G5+control24 still good for commercial studios?
depends on the marked
NY, LA, Nashville, London on one of the few big albums: no, got to chase the dragon any were else it should be OK for a few year but, if it's a liquid cooled G5 the clock is ticking before it leaks and dies
