Recording and playback issues w/ Powerbook/Mbox

Hi all
I've been using PT for quite sometime now - have always had some sort of recording issues -
I had quicktime 7 totally wreck my set up - had to archive install, update etc. - I'm super frustrated
I end up walking away - rather than recording the ideas in my head(I'm sure some of you have felt my pain)
Anyways to the issue - I'm using a 15" 1 ghz Aluminum Powerbook w/1.5 Ram recording to external western digital 120
currently I'm, @ OS 10.3.9 (which maybe the issue after reading requirements) and PT 6.4-
I now can't even record one track without issues - can't record or even playback in 512(forget 256) - only 1024
Can anyone with the same set up - tell me what's working for them----I just want to make music and take care
of the few clients I have -PLEASE HELP

um.. i have the samething u have. 1.5 powerbook with even 1.25G Ram..
I could tell u that after u update to 10.4 OSX Tiger with PT 6.9.2. it would fix this problem for sure..
it's ur choice to switch to Logic or stay with PT

Have you tried any of the suggestions in the ' OSX Setup and General Troubleshooting thread?

If you're getting errors, what are the error numbers?

I read a thread, and changed Display colors from millions to thousands - I also made sure processor was a highest - seems to be much more stable. Have been recording much smoother - yey!!
