It is a software issue linked to specific hardware, because some people such as myself have not experienced this lag. So some hardware (drivers) are not behaving nicely and some (drivers) are.

Hello.

I’ve upgraded my old mac pro 2010 with an rx580 with 2x 4k monitors and it seems that I have the same issue: everything is working fine, but editing is very laggy. Even zoom in and out isn’t fast. The more complex is the session (or maybe the more clips are in the edit list?), the more it becomes laggy.

Please note that I’m still on 12.5 HD. I’ll try changing the color profile, but do you still have the same problem with your 4k imac and protools 2018? I’m not sure about how updating could resolve the problem. Thank you.

Thanks for that. I looked up the rx580 and at least at newegg they list like 36+ variations on that card. Did you get one that's compatible with your MacPro? I've read where some video cards may not play well with MacPros without firmware changes to the card.

Everything seems to work fine in other applications (safari/finder/mail...)...could Ivtry something to confirm it’s ok? Gpu is an asus rx580, dp and hdmi are both working. I’ll try to connect only one 4k monitor, maybe it could help.

I’ve read elsewhere High sierra had lot of bugfixes for rx580...maybe I gonna try this before buying a reinstate license for protools.

Thank you for your help.
