upgrade to 9??

ok here is my dilemma... i have pro tools 8 m powered, problem is i have a mac that had to replace the hard rive on, now i have an awesome quiet new hard rive and mac upgraded me from snow leopard to lion.. mow I'm trying to reinstall pro tools and i find out that PT8 does not work in lion.. ok so i am willing to upgrade, how do i go about doing that if i can't even install 8? if any one has the answer to that i would love to hear it! plus i don't want to waste money and not get the software to work!

Ok but what do I say when pro tools isn't even on my Mac? It should be installed right? Has anyone gone thru this before? From what it looks like avid doesnt care much about customer support.. I would really like a super solid this will work.. Do you know what I'm saying?

Protools 10 is a full installer, even when you buy the upgrade/crossgrade. You don't need a previous version installed. In fact it's recommended that you don't.

The Profire 2626 works great with PT 10.

ok so i can only run to 10 not 9? and the price for that is 399? i can't remember what the codes look like for activation.. can you help me with finding that or where its at? i have all the things i think just want to make sure.. also since i registered it does that count toward me already having it? like instead of having the activation codes?

Yeah It's in your avid account as well

This activation code that you used when you installed ProTools

You'll need your serial number of your hardware as well - I think But don't hold me to them I'm not sure

Unlike versions 8 and below, 9&10 need an iLok for authorization which in most instances is an extra cost (approx $40) though some promotions include an iLok.

The hardware interface used to be the dongle with versions 8 and previous. The iLok replaces the interface as the dongle with v9&10 thus allowing the use of third party interfaces such as your Profire.

Well ok I think I found out everything I needed thanks for the help now to waste more money.. any sound quality improvements from 8-10? I saw the channel strip that's supposed to be good..
