Buy 9 then sell LE hardware? or still tied?

Hi guys, does anyone have any clarity on the PT9 licence for 8LE crossgrades - I know you have to enter your hardware serial - does that mean the licence is still 'tied' to the individual hardware? (I know it will operate without it)?

ie if you then sell the harware does Digi's thing about hardware and software being transferred together still apply ie sell the hardware = must sell PT9?

Or can you buy 9 crossgrade then sell the hardware with the 8LE (or 7etc) base version and keep the new 9 awesomeness?

No, it is not. They just need the HW serial number to verify you are eligible for the reduced crossgrade price.

Yes! But the new buyer then cannot use the HW serial to get the crossgrade anymore. He will need to buy PT9 at full price.

But anyway, the way, I understand ist, is, that you need to put in you hardware serial to prove, that you own it at the time of purchase, and to choose the right crossgrade for your matter.
I guess, you are free to sell it the next minute.

What about with the original Mbox? I know the interface is no longer supported but can i still cross grade my version 8 of pro tools to 9 and then just use a different interface?

No, original MBOX and 001 interfaces do not qualify.

But they do make good door stops

Thanks for the replies all. I have an mbox2 and a 003 so I guess I hope to upgrade one (probably the mbox) then sell it "hardware only" - understand it cant be upgraded twice :)
