Default can't hide min:secs ruler

in pro tools 8 min Min:secs ruler is always on, when I try and change it to just bars|beats the minutes:secs setting is grayed. So I can have bars|beats and min:secs but not just bars|beats.

Is there anyway to completely hide the mins:seconds ruler in pro tools 8? I could have sworn this was possible in 7, not sure what changed.

reason for this is cause the bars at the top for the time grid don't coincide with the bars and beats grid making it very distracting.

When min:sec is grayed out, it seems like you have set this as your main ruler. Switch the main ruler to bars|beats and you should be able to hide min:sec.

thanks Holly73, that did it

also for incase anyone else stumbles on this thread and needs to know. The main ruler coincides with the main counter in the transport, so change that and the main ruler will change.

(i didn't know that the main counter governed the rulers)

((that last sentence sounded like I'm talking about a some feudal system in medieval times))

Thanks for the breadcrumb, n8tron. This isn't the first time I've been stumped by this, even though I vaguely recalled that clicking somewhere in the transport control works and did try clicking on the main counter several times. I must have clicked twice and cancelled the change each time while being distracted by the presence of other switchable counters and exploring interactions. AKA fumbling in the dark.
