Default mini grand and NI akousik piano problem

hey all
i have a problem whereby notes played into either mini grand or akoustik piano dont sustain past one second, very infuriating and makes mini grand useless! it decays nicely til about the one second mark where it quickly drops off and glitches a little, a lack of computing power is not the problem. please help!
