So now that Black Lion isn't doing the mod anymore, what do we do?

they still do the clock and pre mod but you have to supply the converters (which i cant find online) if you want your converters swapped out.

Black Lion IS modding everything but converters. The stock converter chips are (4) ASKA AK5283VSP, with 110dB Dynamic Range. The possible upgrade is the ASKA AK5393VSP, with 117dB Dynamic range.

An internet search got me 31 units on a ship from Hong Kong, place a bid! Not your usual DigiKey or Radio Shack kinda part, I think.

Maybe DUC'ers can broker a shipment. The pins are mighty small though, and there are a lot of them. I'd still send the chips and unit to Black Lion (if I can find them).

Again, they do a great and beneficial mod., just no converters right now.

What's the timetable when sending it to Black Lion? I'm assuming all warranties are voided after the mod.

Hi I work for Black Lion,
Just wanted to tell you guys that David Gibbons, head of product design, emailed us and said that he was cool with what we were doing. While we don't think that this translates to a company wide policy for Digidesign, it's at least nice to know that they recognize what we're doing.

Having said that, we are making attempts to obtain authorized repair center status so that we could at leat service what we modify and get parts if needed.

Long-term good luck, Jim and Matt.

Your philosophy regarding, and skills in perfecting "almost there" studio hardware are unique and effective.
Not to mention an affordable kick in the audio a**. Thanks.

Kudos to you guys.

And so pleasing to see Digi respect what you're doing.

Awesome, I had a guy in Germany that was going to post a youtube version of his MOD to show how to do it but never finished the project.
