Default use ver. 2.2 loose 74 min+/ no x6 x8 for 74+

ver. 2.2 loose 74 min+/ no x6 x8 for 74+

I am outraged.... and yes it's true.

Digidesign, in their infinite wisdom, has purposely put a block on recording 74 min.+ CDR's in version 2.2 of Masterlist CD. This is got to be the stupidest thing they have EVER done. I can understand not supporting it, putting statements in the software like, "use this at your own risk", or "this feature is not suported by digi", but not allowing you to do it, after being able to do it for more than 2 years (that's how long I've been doing it without a single problem, literally 500+ 74+ min CDR's burned) is a slap in the face to every Masterlist CD customer!

I was told by technical support that they put in the block for "liability reasons". YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!! You mean it still works in x6 and x8 mode??

Recording over 74 min. is the ONLY thing that made Masterlist stand out from Toast and the other CD recording programs (Toast can also edit subcodes, read digi files, and play over your monitors) and EVERY CD I master is more than 74 min. purposely to keep the bootlegers from easily copying our titles. (they won't spend the money for the 80 min. CDR's)

The ONLY system that now will even ALLOW (they also support it) you to record more than 74 min is the Sonic Solution system. I just can't believe that after being Digidesign ZELOT (almost as much being a MAC zelot) for more than 10 years (was a original sound tools user with an external AD IN box) that I am going to be FORCED to buy a Sonic system! I HAVE to record CDR’s 74+ min.

They had better come out with a 2.2.1 quick that has a "warning" instead of a "block" or they are going to loose a LOT of customers VERY fast.

I just CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!!!!

If anyone has a Hack for this, a beta, or anthing else like this PLEASE reply.

Hey ... I bet EVERYONE has an instance or two where 74+ CDs are called for. Luckily, I can still use mlcd v 2.1 ... but if I ever get an unsupported CD burner .. I, too, will be outraged!

Buy JAM, that'll work with 74+ CD's. I own both MasterList CD and JAM and I have found that what one won't do, the other will. Both of them together seem to be complete, so depending on what I need I'll use one or the other.

No, I don´t want to buy Jam - I have spend a lot of money for MLCD, and it should not be crippled and force me to spend money for other software to compensate for it.

The reason I bought JAM in the first place is because I was having problems with MLCD. Since being an owner of MLCD from version 1.0, I never had problems, but when version 2.1 came out, suddenly I could not successfully write CD's with the same writer and hard drives I was using previously. After several talks with tech support nobody could figure out what was going on. I could't waste time, so I went out and bought JAM and everything worked perfectly. To this day I still don't know what happened. I agree that MLCD should be able to do everything that we need it to, especially at the price, but unfortunately it doesn't. If you can wait for digidesign to change it, great! If not, you may have to look at something else like I did. I was basically forced to buy JAM and it has worked well for me.

I contacted Digidesign support by e-mail in early January about this problem. To this day, there has not been any reaction (apart from their computerized "will reply within three business days" nonsense).
So I contacted Digidesign Germany two days ago. Result: they actually _recommended_ to use JAM if I needed the 74+ minutes feature. And, of course, they made it clear that 80 minutes CDs were actually never officially supported. I'll use WaveBurner from now on...

Digi Germany recommends Jam?
I´m in Germany, too.
Maybe I should ask Digi G to send me Jam for free? Or swap my MLCD for Jam and get the money difference back?

Why doesn´t Digi reply here? They said it´s a security issue, so why don´t they make it switchable and let the risk be on our (the users´) side. They could put that in the readme...
