Ya, I think that's the best thing. There is no down side and you'll know for sure if your original unit was not right. Things happen. production is never 100%.

BTW this a not uncommon type of problem with silicone rubber membrane based switches. There will be an flexible elastic membrane/sheet with "spring" dimples on it where the buttons are, that sheet goes between the button top and a backing PCB. The dimples give the switch it's "spring" and holds it open electrically contacts on the inside back of the dimples close the switch contacts in the PCB electrically or capacitively when pushed. The button may be painted on or bonded to be membrane or loose, but these problems can happen when things don't line up, especially if the membrane is not properly in alignment grooves or pins on the backing PCB assembly. Often easy to fix by just reassembling the parts. But clearly here the dealer and Avid should be looking after you.

Just letting everyone know that AVID have indeed taken care of me . Received my replacement dock today . Mute button is normal . Thanks Eddie for your help and thanks Anthony and Darryl for your replies .
