Hi,
Does anyone know how to get rid of unwanted sustain in a MIDI performance? I looked at the Foot Controller channel in the MIDI editor - it has the number 4 next to it in parentheses but it doesn't show any events..... Still, the staccato piano part I played is sustaining. Is there an easy solution I'm not seeing? Thanks! B |

I did that at first but unfortunately the sustain I'm looking for wasn't listed......the MIDI events shown are only notes on the piano - no sustain....
My friend who was playing said that he still had his foot on the pedal when the track automatically stopped recording, which sometimes creates an "infinite sustain"... If this is the case is there a way to remove it even if it isn't listed? |

Go thru the view list til u see Sustain, & write it in as needed or not, the same way u would do volume or a mute write etc.

Look for MIDI Controller numbers, 64, 65, and 66.
If you find them, as Keybeeetsss said, set them to Value 0 to turn them off. Hope this helps.

*BUMP*
Any solution? I cant find any sustain events on my track. I've disconnected all of my midi controllers, and still cant play past 4 bars without the midi tracks sounding like garbage. I dont know if its sustain, but it seems that the midi notes will not turn off. Geeked about the possibility of VI's and the Ease of using only 1 interface (PT) for all my production needs, I just purchased equipment and rewired my whole studio to switch from the MPC to ProTools. When It works, I love it. But I cant get past this sustain / No Notes off issue. Any Help??? I run PT8.0.3cs2 n on OSX 10.6.2, new Imac 3.06Ghz Dual Core, Digi003 Rack. |
