Default Why is digidesign 192 very slow to power up ?

Hi,

I've recently bought a 192 (not the new I/O version but the older version).

Sometimes it's taking 1/2 an hour at least to power up from pressing the On switch on the front panel. During that initial time it sits there, no fan running, doing nothing.

Has anybody seen this before or know why ?

I'm in an air conditioned room at around 20 degrees C.

Many thanks,

Something is not up to snuff, maybe a power supply or a circuit board. It should be ready to go in less than one minute. Can you return it?

Dud capacitor or relay in the power supply.

Indeed, there is something wrong with it. If you can return it, I would. If not, I would pop the top, unplug the IO cards, remove them for now. Then, given the "vintage" and the wiring issues from a few other pieces from those days(namely, the 002 and Control24), I would look for any/every molex connection(the white nylon multipins) and unplug-replug each one several times(the theory being this action will scrape off a layer of oxidation and cure possible poor connections). Reinstall the IO cards and cross your fingers
