same as always. one extra click to open the inserted studiorack that holds the waves plugs.

So studio rack looks like a plug in in pro tools? The automation lanes are editable and follow clips in pro tools?

This is all pretty true but in Pro Tools it has a twist. Pro Tools (unlike some other DAWs) does not dynamically update the names of things inside a Rack plugin as you add things. When you instantiate the RACK it just uses a numbered list for ALL the things that could be later assigned in the StudioRack (same true for other rack solutions in PT). So to get the automation assigned takes an extra step and the labeling in Pro Tools will be odd.

1) Open StudioRack
2) Click or double click the plugin (in StudioRack) you want to automate
3) Right click the knob or control you want to automate and write down or remember the Number of it - In the one I am looking at it is the Input Gain of a CLA-76 and its number is P335.
4) Click the PT automation assign button in the top of the StudioRack Plugin (just like normal)
5) Scroll down to P335 and assign it (again like usual)
6) You now have an automation lane in PT that is called P335 that is the Input Gain of a CLA-76 in my particular case.

From here everything else is normal ProTools.
