Default Axiom Pro 61 vs Digi002 as control surface

Hello Everyone,

I am not sure where to post this on here and I hope no one gets too upset wherever it posts. I am still getting familiar with Pro Tools but really need to get some sort of control surface. The Digi002 looks decent and there are used ones around that I could pick up but I am also wondering about the Axiom Pro 61 controller.

The Axiom Pro has the transport buttons, sliders for tracks, etc... My old M-Audio 61 keyboard is faulty so I need to get something to replace it. I am wondering if the Axiom Pro 61 successfully cover both midi controller and mixing console. I know there are better choices for a mixing console but until I get more familiar with PT I don't need to go to crazy buying anything huge just yet. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

RE; Axiom ..., not 100% about the new pro (you'd better do some research)
..., but with all other versions there is no Hypercontrol support for protools 10.3.5 and above (including PT 11)

M-Audio havent been able to get this to work for ages , and they are still scratching their heads trying to figure it out.

It is looking scary IMHO , if they still havent even sorted out PT-10 ..., what hope is there of a timely fix for PT11

...., all their customers are feeling like mushrooms (ie; kept in the dark and fed BS),

Novation are a bit more ahead in the race but still not there yet, with their Automap system working in all PT10 versions , but very limited functions in PT11

All true. But don't forget that the 002 is not officially supported in PT11 and there's no guarantee that Avid won't totally break having an 002 work with PT in a future update. So options for an inexpensive control surface that's also a keyboard are limited at best.

Wow thanks for the info...I did not know digi002 was not supported by PT11.... Any suggestions for not so expensive mixer console and/or midi keyboard/mixer. Thanks this has already been a huge help.

My advice is to hang out a bit longer until either axiom , or novation get their stuff to work , or also wait until some hot new products that are about to soon be released from Beringer , that were presented at his years NAMM ..., and even a member on this forum is about to release a brilliant touch screen controller. (see discussion section )

Behringer X-Touch looks to be very promising

I have been wondering about Behringer products for a little while now. There have been many positive and negative reviews. That is a shame about the Axiom Pro Hyper Control feature. I would think that they had plenty of time to get that worked out since it has been available for a few years.

Does anyone have exp with Behringer mixers in PT 10 or 11? Do their products integrate well into PT? Do you just have to set up templates with the mixer and save them? or would you have to assign all controls for each project in PT. Thanks.

even with no hyper control per say.

using a Axiom Pro 49 will still be ok...

as amidi controller? should still be able to Map parameters for automation wand what not via midi CC for VI's at least right?

Im about to go PT 11 soon. Wondering if I should sell the 49 and get something else...

Ive never really been to into the Hypercontrol, wanted to be but just quicker with the mouse usually.. but having a knob or two to tweak some VI's like filters and stuff would be cool and the keys themselves are really nice to me...

am I in the ballpark conceptually? anyone using it in 11.
