I'm on Mojave on a 2013 Mac Pro with HDX and 2020.03 runs very smoothly for me also. As good as 2019.12 was. No CPU spikes even with low buffer sizes, good CPU efficiency too. I just finished a large mix with over 200 voices no problem.

I'm not experiencing many CPU spikes, but I have had a lot of crashing and beach balling. It's the first time I've been frustrated with the software in quite a while.

No beachballing here, but I just took half a week to do a very clean 10.15.4 install -- seems to be well worth the trouble

A whole bunch of crashes today. It seems like there might be a bug in the way Pro Tools is currently handling plugin routing.

Did also a clean install 10.15.3 and worked a whole week on a +150 tracks song.
No problems at all.

Did a clean install, but I do get a beachball ocassionally. What's are the most common causes for this?

You're on PC?
We're all(?) on Mac. No idea what kind of problem it could be on "the other side".

It's probably unrelated, but what causes it on a Mac?

Network problems, some plugins to load, but I can't remember to have it since at least a year.

Are you using bus widths wider than stereo, and the video engine? The majority of beach balling that I am experiencing is the result of the video engine, I think. It seems far, far more problematic than 2019.12.
