using 7 cores instead of 8
I heard that running 7 cores can run protools more smoothly then using 8. Anyone confirm this? Also bring me to my next question. When I go to playback engine my only option is 8 cores... How do i change to 7?

Re: using 7 cores instead of 8
Can you click the drop down there to reveal the other 7 cores?

Quote:
When you set your processing engine to one less than the total number of cores available, you're effectively keeping one core asside to run everything else (ie, the OS) - which can reduce the chance of various errors popping up. .

Re: using 7 cores instead of 8
What version of tools are you running? Support for selecting multiple cores on Hyperthreaded processors like the core i7 was not included till 7.4 CS10 and I think 8 CS3.
