CDStudio has a somewhat funky interface - I would probably use Toast audio extractor exclusively, except for the fact that it can't extract index information.

Anyone know of another app (besides CDStudio) that can extract indexes?

Don't use anything that has been done on a PC. That's simple. But, seriously -- I used to be able to "import audio from other movie" and rip an audio file directly from ProTools. However, that capability suddenly stopped one day, and I haven't been able to get it back since, even after a complete install of everything.

I use SoundJam. It's a cool program that converts into several formats like mp3, wav, aiif a.o. I think it's $ 39.- for download.

Hey, did anyone ever sort out this problem?

It's just happened to us.

Is it posible to import CD audio into a 24bit session? I had to do it for a client the other day only to find PT wouldn't allow a 16bit file in a 24bit session. I either had to run the session in 16bit or use analog inputs. It was on the spot so I didn't have much chance to look into it. Any suggestions welcome, thanks!

Snoopy-Import and Convert Audio option

Bfindlay. yes. Yesterday infact. I usually extract and then import but I said WTF, lets try the quicktime option. PT wouldn't see the files on the CD. Then it hit me. I was working 24 bit. Tht's got to be it, right? haven't tried a 16 bit session yet.

One way is to put start a 16 bit session, import the 16 bit audio, then "Save A Copy" and select 24 bit. PT will convert the audio files in the copy.
