Fanless PSU MC Pro
Is there a fanless PSU available for the euphonix Mc Pro?

I know that the fan in our one was replaced by a silent version. That cost all of 15 €.

Re: Fanless PSU MC Pro
Thank you Steven,
did you replace the fan yourself, or did Avid do it for you? I just had SmartAV replace our Tangos PSUs with completely fanless ones and a similar solution would be the best. |

Theres a german psu that should work, but I can't remember the makers name.
But since they're custom made they have to be trimmed/setup on site. The original ones are the worst piece of crap PSUs I have ever owned. We have (had) two I have them fail individually six bloody times. And they sound like bloody helicopters because some psu designer thinks size is a major issue in a serious studio so they decided on a short non replaceable cable and the worst small fan ever. But computers can be passively cooled... --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=59.320481,18.502965 |

Re: Fanless PSU MC Pro
I have had this discussion with a number of manufacturers as of late.
We are working very hard to keep the background noise extremely low in our room and there is a new trend of putting more or less quiet fans in equipment. Euphonix, I urge you to offer a fanless psu. If it needs to be larger, that is probably fine for most of us. If I were to have an extension cable for the DC end, how long can it be before I run into problems? I would need about 5 meters to get it into the machine room |

With a standard Euphonix psu you would not be able to drive a cable that long. At least I was told that.
Talk to Mark Rose at Avid/Euphonix UK and he'll point you in the right direction. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=59.320779,18.346983 |

Re: Fanless PSU MC Pro
We have 2 system 5 mc. We sent a fader pack to euphonix and they modified it so the Mc pro can draw is power from this modified fader pack. We still have to do the mod for the second system 5 mc bought last year. The system 5 MC is a great controller but i can't understand why they sell the systems with those power supply. The funny thing is if you go in the faq (general operation) here it says that the system 5 mc has no fan...

Re: Fanless PSU MC Pro
Well, the PSU now died and I will try to get a fanless one made.
I am waiting to hear back from euphonix on the matter. Meanwhile, does anyone here have contact info to someone her in the EU, who can make a good custom psu for me? |
